I agree, so let's get this started. My current idea is like this:

    • introduce a new category “External”. In the end this will supersede the Dropbox category as it will support alle Cloud storage.
    • the “open external safe” option will become more important, it will automatically add the opened safe to the “External” category allowing easy future access (also from the auto-fill provider).
    • For Google Drive, as an example, this would mean just installing the Google Drive app, and then opening the safe from the pwSafe app.
    • This will leave all the syncing details to the Cloud storage hosting app, outside of pwSafe, greatly simplifying the pwSafe app.

    How does this sound?

If there are any issues to expect, I'd rather hear about them now :-)

OneDrive support would be great. I do have a set of work passwords stored in a file in my employer's O365, and I can sync manually from time to time but actually reading/writing the file from there would be awesome.

    Hi Richard,

Thank you for moving this enhancement forward! This will greatly improve pwSafe’s functionality.

If I understand you correctly, there will be a new category on the screen below called external and the Dropbox category will eventually be removed. I am a OneDrive user and choose to store a local copy of my pwSafe file on my devices. When the enhanced functionality is available, I will select the offline version of my pwSafe file. Once the file is selected, from that point forward it will appear in pwSafe in the external category and will automatically work within the autofill password option. All syncing functionality will be managed by the OneDrive app. Will I also be able to open the safe using biometrics such as face ID or fingerprint?

Thank you again! I look forward to having the enhanced functionality. I will also be happy to test the functionality using TestFlight if that would be helpful.

    Hi Bub,

Yes, you understand correctly, and yes, biometrics should work too.

This is still in the design-phase at the moment, which is also why I am posting it here to get feedback.

Having files offline is a good point too, I'd like to keep that with the hosting app too as you are describing for OneDrive. I could implement this in the pwSafe app too, kind of syncing the files from the host app into the pwSafe app, but if possible I'd like to avoid that. Every extra step in the chain can (and usually will) introduce issues. Hmm, I could make that optional, for those cloud providers that do not offer offline themselves.

I will post here when TestFlight version becomes available.

    Richard.
