An issue has been introduced in PasswdSafe for Android 6.27.0. If you use a YubiKey with your safe, opening and saving the safe with PasswdSafe for Android 6.27.0 or 6.27.1 may make that safe fail to open later on Windows, Mac, or iOS.
This warning only applies if both of these are true:
- You use PasswdSafe for Android 6.27.0 or 6.27.1
- Your safe uses a YubiKey, or has used a YubiKey in the past
If your safe has never used a YubiKey, we do not currently believe you are affected.
PasswdSafe for Android 6.27.2 has been released and fixes this issue.
We recommend that affected users:
- Update the Android app to version 6.27.2 (or higher). Do not use either version 6.27.0 or 6.27.1, as these two versions are affected.
- Keep a backup copy of your safe before making changes
If you already opened or edited your safe with PasswdSafe for Android 6.27.0 or 6.27.1 and can no longer open it on another device
- Restore a backup copy or previous version of your safe if available
- Try to open the restored safe on Windows, Mac or iOS to verify that it is valid
- Re-apply the changes made to the Android safe
If you are unable to restore a backup copy, you can also unlock your safe in PasswdSafe for Android 6.27.2, and make a change to update your safe. This will make your safe valid again, but note that this will delete the backup Yubikey secret from your safe making it impossible to make new backups of your Yubikey. Restoring a backup copy is preferred as that will retain the backup Yubikey secret.
