Issue: On macOS 26.x, the pwSafe helper service may fail to start and the menu bar icon will not appear if the application is not allowed in the menu bar via system settings.
Symptoms:
- The pwSafe menu bar icon is missing, even after reinstalling and enabling related services.
- Manual attempts to start the background helper service immediately exit with code 0, and the service does not stay running.
- Two green checkmarks appear under Password AutoFill, but the helper still does not work.
Solution:
- Go to Settings > Menu Bar on your Mac.
- Scroll to "Allow in Menu Bar."
- Ensure pwSafe is enabled (allowed) in this list.
Once pwSafe is allowed in the menu bar, the background service will start correctly, and the icon will appear as expected. Disabling menu bar access will cause the service to exit.
This behavior appears to be new to macOS 26.x and may not be present in earlier versions.
