Version 11.2 streamlines registration of your devices to the pwSafe Cloud: a device will now be registered automatically provided
- You have an active pwSafe Cloud subscription
- The device's Apple ID matches the pwSafe Cloud subscription
- The device's platform (iOS or macOS) matches the pwSafe Cloud subscription
Registering your first device is still a manual process, simply because you need to approve subscribing to the pwSafe Cloud service. After doing so, your other devices on the same platform will automatically detect your subscription and start using it.
This only works for devices on the same platform (iOS or macOS) as Apple has two separate App Stores, one for iOS (iPhone/iPad) and one for macOS (Mac). Only devices connected to the same App Store will be able to auto-detect your subscription.
Note that the pwSafe Cloud supports connecting devices from multiple platforms (and even multiple Apple IDs) to the same subscription manually. The new auto-registration simplifies the process in case both the platform and Apple ID match the pwSafe Cloud subscription.
Example 1
You have an iPhone and iPad. After connecting your iPhone to the pwSafe Cloud, your iPad will connect automatically.
Example 2
Your iPhone is registered to the pwSafe Cloud. You replace your iPhone with a new iPhone. Your new iPhone will automatically register to the pwSafe Cloud.
Example 3
You own an iPhone and MacBook. After connecting your MacBook to the pwSafe Cloud, your iPhone will not auto-detect your subscription as it connects to a different App Store.
