Version 4 of the Password Safe database format supports attaching files to a password entry.
Important: As this version is experimental we do not recommend upgrading your password database to version 4. The pwSafe apps for iOS and macOS cannot perform this upgrade, only the Windows version has this ability. To repeat, we do not recommend you to do so.
If you already have a version 4 database, for instance for testing purposes or just for storing file attachments, support has been added to pwSafe to view these files, both on your mobile devices and desktop. Make sure to update pwSafe to version 10.6 or higher to use this feature.
To view files attached to a password entry, simply open the password entry and tap the file.
Adding a photo attachment
Version 10.6.5 of pwSafe adds support for attaching an existing photo to an entry. Simply tap/click the Edit button and from the '+' menu select the Photo Library field. The familiar photo picker will be presented allowing you to select the photo you want to attach to the entry.
For macOS, this feature requires macOS 13 or higher. For iOS, this feature is available on all supported iOS devices.
Version 10.6.9 of pwSafe adds options to:
- use the iPhone/iPad camera to capture a new photo and immediately attach it to an existing entry. This is an iOS-only feature.
- attach any existing file on your device to an entry. Both on iOS and Mac. PDFs, text files, just any file.
Note: As you add attachments to your safe, the size of the safe will obviously grow, which impacts the time needed for loading, saving and synchronizing your safe. We recommend keeping the total size of your safe below 100 MB.
